Publication of “At the Feet of the Mother: Reminiscences by Her Children”, Volume One; “Who is Sri Aurobindo?” and “The Mystery of Sri Aurobindo’s ‘Departure’ vis-à-vis The Ideal of Physical Transformation”

Dear Friends,

We are happy to announce Overman Foundation’s latest publications, At the Feet of the Mother: Reminiscences by Her Children, Volume One (ISBN: 978-81-996505-9-6), Who is Sri Aurobindo? (ISBN: 978-81-979623-0-1) by Nirodbaran and The Mystery of Sri Aurobindo’s ‘Departure’ vis-à-vis The Ideal of Physical Transformation (ISBN: 978-81-979623-6-3) by Jugal Kishore Mukherjee.

Given the pivotal roles of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother in the matter of supramentalization of earth-life leading to the divinization of man’s mental, vital and physical existence, the sudden and totally unexpected ‘Departure’ of Sri Aurobindo on 5 December 1950 left most of his disciples absolutely shell-shocked. Even after 75 years since the momentous event, many of his disciples have not been able to shake off from their mind the sense of utter puzzlement at this Master-Yogi’s physical passing.

In the book, The Mystery of Sri Aurobindo’s ‘Departure’ vis-à-vis The Ideal of Physical Transformation (price: Rs. 220), Jugal Kishore Mukherjee, who was one of the finest exponents of Aurobindonian philosophy and a writer of rare insight, has tried to solve the mystery of Sri Aurobindo’s ‘departure’ analyzing the actual words of Sri Aurobindo as well as those of the Mother pronounced on different occasions.

Priced at Rs. 500, Who is Sri Aurobindo? consists of Nirodbaran’s (Sri Aurobindo’s scribe and attendant) writings and talks on Sri Aurobindo and the Mother published between 1951 and 2003 along with an unpublished article entitled Why is Sri Aurobindo Ignored? These writings and talks not only contain new information about Sri Aurobindo and bring to light lesser known aspects of Sri Aurobindo but also reveal the unique relationship he had with Nirodbaran.

Compiled and edited by Anurag Banerjee and priced at Rs. 500, the first volume of At the Feet of the Mother is an anthology of priceless reminiscences of three of the early members of Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Pondicherry (Udar Pinto, Mrityunjoy Mukherjee and Lalita), in which they have recounted their memorable contacts with the Mother and the pivotal roles played by Her to develop their personalities and spiritual destinies. The most fascinating feature of these reminiscences is that they reveal the human aspect of a Divine Personality. Through these reminiscences, the reader would surely realize ‘The splendid yoke of her beauty and her love’ (Savitri, Book IV, Canto II, p. 365).

All the three books were released by Shri Manoj Dasgupta, Managing Trustee of Sri Aurobindo Ashram Trust, Pondicherry, on 6 March 2026.

  1. Who is Sri Aurobindo? A Rishi returned from Vedic times to recover the Vedas and regenerate them.
Who is Mother? The Mother of Worlds, incarnated alongside Sri Aurobindo, has evolutionary purposes, with the Vedic Sun revealed for a coming Golden Age.
In India, during this moment in history, disrupted by petty events, it is called to embody the Strength of the Soul in the face of the Strength of Arms.
In India must not stray from its mission: to vanquish Asura and allow Sri Aurobindo to lead it toward True Freedom.
Thus, the supreme Mission of Mother Sri Aurobindo, begun in the last century, will be completed against all odds in the times to come. A disciple of Mother Sri Aurobindo, confident, more than confident, and happy to be in their wake.

  2. Of course, I am writing from Europe, looking towards India without being able to fully grasp its difficulties, both because of Pakistan, which prevents Indian unity through a religious spirit that seeks exclusion, even though the end of this partition would be beneficial to humanity, and because of China, which desires to be the master of the region, using brutal methods and so-called artificial intelligence at its service, to the point of ignoring the intrinsic value of the individual.

But I am writing, turned inward, turned towards Them, and I perceive that everything is irradiated by a supramental Force-Consciousness manifested on Earth on February 29, 1956, after a long period of infusion.

Certainly, many men and women, in India and elsewhere on Earth, are unaware of this fact or consider it random, yet this formidable Energy, carried and carried by the Mother of Worlds, is at work in India and throughout the world, heralding a new Golden Age, that of the Vedas recovered and regenerated.

This fact, despite numerous and powerful resistances, is now merely “the froth on the surface.”

Perhaps I am being too intrusive; perhaps my point is somewhat the same, post after post.

But it is more than time to turn towards the Midday of the Future, which ignites the Dawn, after having left the twilight zones. We expect no less from certain disciples of Mother Sri Aurobindo.

Equally so, from those who know neither their writings nor their past actions during the last century in Pondicherry. Let us believe in their influence, for they are at the forefront and terribly present for an old world that is fading away!

May this Marvel, suspended above the abyss of Ignorance, emerge in India, Asia, Europe, and even America.

In all humility, I not only grant them my full and complete trust, to the point of daring to give everything, down to my very being, for the beauty of the gesture and because it cannot be otherwise. Christian.

  3. Dear Anurag,
Compliments for these new publications. I look forward to reading them. Overman Foundation is continuously enriching the Aurobindonian literature with relevant and interesting publications, bringing out unknown or less known anecdotes, reminiscences, insights, researches.

It is joy to see Shri Manoj Dasgupta, Managing Trustee of the Ashram and one of the senior-most inmates of the Ashram, releasing these books.
