According to a survey made in 2017, countries like Australia, Canada, Finland, Iceland, Norway and the United States of America have the highest survival rates for most cancers while that for several cancers in India are lower than those in Europe or North America because of delayed diagnosis and lack of access to appropriate treatment. The poor survival rates in India are due to lack of awareness about early symptoms and delayed diagnosis. According to oncologists, lack of access to appropriate treatment due to cost or other factors also lead to low survival rates. Needless to say, appropriate chemotherapy dosage and treatment strategy is critical in improving survival rates.
